Thanks, I agree! His first coach did a pretty good job with him, so it makes it easy, just some little things to work on, and focus on getting him strong.

Would like to take a moment to acknowledge one of my athletes. She's 32, been lifting for about a year. Previously she did about a year or so of just general training under me, until we finally persuaded her to give Weightlifting a try. It's been fun to take someone who is absolutely completely new to the sport and help develop them. Still a lot of work to do, but I'm really pleased with her progress before. She competes as a 58...toying with the idea of moving up to 63, as she is a bit tall for 58s.

Very nice! I see she has a pretty narrow foot placement. Is that something you suggested? Just curious about any rules of thumb you might have about foot placement on the pull...

We start our athletes with a fairly moderate foot position, and then let them develop their position as it suits them. I tend to favor more narrow positions in general. She has brought hers in on her own over the last few months. She seems to be finishing the pull a bit better that way.

Not her best total, but considering that she cut down from 102kg to now about 92 over the last 6 months, I'd say it's pretty good. We saw a significant decrease in her snatch with the weight cut, but it's finally starting to come back around.

Saw they were using the Klokov gear at that meet. What's your impression of it? Feel free to move this to its own thread if you think that fits better. Thanks!

Well, we have a woman's bar at the gym. It's the bar that the ladies go to grab if the DHS is being used, so I think that says something. The spin is great, the knurling is great, the rubber band, while aesthetically displeasing is pretty function. The bar has a TON of whip though. Some people like that, some don't.

I don't have any commentary on the plates, as I haven't used them.
