If I move fast enough, my joints won't creak as badly!

    Background info:

    Age: 35
    Height: 6' 0.5"
    Weight: 93-94 kg

Lifting weights since I was 14. Competed in strongman competitions in 105 kg weight class from 2007 to 2011. Was Illinois' strongest man in 2009 and won a number of other competitions. Strongman beat me up too much, and I was frustrated with the lack of drug testing so I started weightlifting in 2012. I have bad knees which keep me from pushing my squats as much as I would like, but I feel like I'm still moving pretty fast.

    PRs
    Snatch -134 kg
    CnJ - 154 kg
    Clean - 156 kg
Front Squat - 170 kg (I don't really push heavy singles though)

    Goals

94 kg American Masters Comp records are 131 kg and 161 kg. I'll be looking to break those in November. The snatch should be doable with the CnJ being more of a stretch.

Hi Jason, I have bad knees too. Do you take anything for it? Have you tried Lidoderm (lidocaine) patches? I use them and find they help a lot.

Yes. I'm going to get Roger's input on some things too.

I take 600 mg of ibuprofin before my big workouts on Saturdays, but that is all. It definitely helps me move better on the heavy days, but I try to make myself feel the pain during weekday sessions since your body is trying to tell you something. I've never tried Lidoderm but will look into it. Thanks!

I have 10-25% tears in both patellar tendons. I've gotten prolotherapy on both, but they never healed back to 100%. These injuries forced me to figure a lot of things out, get orthotic soles, and fix some movement patterns. In the end, that is a positive thing.

What is the source of your knee pain?

Yep. Jahed and I trained together and roomed together for a while. I won the 231 class at Ill Strongest Man 2009 while Jahed won the 200 class. (I think our weight classes would be reversed nowadays.)

    How do you know Jahed?
