    Sat - Illinois State Championships

    BW - 97.7 so I was a very light 105kg (or fat 94)

Some last minute shuffling had the 105s scheduled to lift at 5:45 pm, but it was actually around 8pm by the time I stepped onto the platform. Definitely later than I would have preferred, but it affected everyone in the group the same.

    Snatch
Attempt 1 - 125 miss, I annihilated this one over my head. It felt light as hell, but I was out of position.
    Attempt 2 - 126 make
    Attempt 3 - 130 miss

-technically, 126 is a comp PR by 1 kg but considering that I've hit 137 at 94 and regularly hit in the 130s, I was disappointed. Adrenaline seems to encourage me to rush the first pull and get out of position.

    CnJ
    Attempt 1 - 143 make
Attempt 2 - 150 make, tough clean but solid lift
    Attempt 3 - 154 miss clean

-happy with CnJ. It seems like 150 is becoming more routine in competition.

    total - 276kg, PR by 5 or 6 kilos.

I signed up as Masters thinking that I would still be ranked in the open, but apparently they stopped doing that. My total won Masters div and Best Lifter for Masters. I was neck-and-neck with the winning open 105 but he hit 130 and 155 to beat my total. I think he actually jumped from 145 to 155 to take the win, but I'd have to check the results.

    Reflections on training
I fixed some of the conditioning issues that I felt hurt me in the past at my last competition. I trained at a more rapid pace at heavy weights and that worked. Overall, I feel stronger too from devoting more time to back squats, but probably needed a little more time for that strength to carry over to the lifts.

Next major competition will hopefully be the Masters World Cup in Dallas which is a few days before Senior nationals. If I can hit another competition before then, that would probably be beneficial for trying to work out snatch flaws that seem to creep up at competitions.

I've found competing as often as possible helps a lot to reducing the effect adrenaline rush has on technique at meets. Also telling myself to calm down and not get hyped

Thanks. I am going to try to sneak in more competitions. I always feel calm in the training hall and really on the platform too, but something is clearly affecting my snatch performance.

    Tues

-right elbow's bugging me so I will be avoiding things that aggravate it for 2 weeks or so. This includes snatches, presses and jerks.

    Paused Back Squats

    bar-3,3,3
    135lb-5
    185lb-5
    225lb-5
    275lb-5
    300lb-5
    315lb-5
-felt pretty weak. I suppose that is pretty common after a competition.

    BB stuff -
1 bicep curls - seem to help some of the tendons around sore elbow.
2 side and rear delt raises
    3 rows using strange grip
    4 shoulder shrugs with DBs

EDIT: Well done on the comp Jason. 7.3kg underweight means that you are good for 145-165+. you got this.
