    Weightlifters who died young

Informational and kind of memorial thread for WLers who died "young". Which is of course relative but in general I would say under 60.

The dude is legendary for his pressing, yet I think he would have done amazing had he lived to acclimate to the biathlon. If you are willing to find training footage, the dude moved amazingly in all of the lifts, was powerful, and obviously strong as can be; I believe Mel Siff has been credited with seeing him perform the first 400 lbs snatch (in his experience, at least.) Really, his biggest problem seems to have been that things went south for him one way or another during competition...

So many died young. This is a good thread for giving some memorial. And yeah, it would appear weightlifters have a strangely antagonistic relationship with motorized vehicles. Go figure.

Marouan Ouertani (-62kg, Tunisia) who passed away just a few days after competing in the 2014 Junior Worlds going 5/6 and making 121/154/275 and finishing in 3rd. He was just 19 and tragically drowned upon returning home to Tunisia.
