Heavy Pulls and Push Press PR

    Workout completed: 8-18-17

In this workout, is started out with some cleans and moved into heavy pulls. I went up to 495 lbs with those for a new best at the
clean deadlift." After my pulls I had some Pus Press work which I felt really good, so I pushed for a new best of 20 lbs of 225 lbs. Eventually these days will happen less and less frequently, but I'm enjoying them for the moment.

Good mornings with squat single 225 lbs / 102 kgs

Today was my accessory day after doing heavy singles, so I wanted to do some hamstring work. I decided to do some good mornings with a heavier weight than I had been using. I also started out with a squat just because.

Front squat PR | Snatch work | Quad work | 8-19-17

This is the workout where I completed my new front squat max. I'm extremely happy with the progress I have made on this lift. Now I"m chasing the 405 lbs front squat. Hopefully, as I approach that number, I will be able to push up my back squat as well.

Front Squat PR and Snatch work | Podcast | 8-19-17

In this video, I talk a bit about my recent front squat workout and the reasoning behind why I planned to do it in the way that I did. I also cover some snatch work that I did and touch a little bit on what I plan do with my next workout of this nature.

225 lbs / 102 kgs Clean and Jerk

Before these, I was trying to do a "no feet clean" with a push press and jerk. As I moved to heavier weights, I just did a jerk and my "no feet clean turned into a regular clean. I suppose they were all power cleans as well.

    Max out day | 8-21-17

I was able to hit a snatch (exercise) PR with this workout, but did not fair as well with the clean and jerk (exercise) . It is hard to tell with the video, but with the 245 lbs jerk, the bar slipped down my shirt on the loading phase. That means I need to keep my arms and upper back tighter to make sure it stays up on my shoulders. I have been doing some more jerk work this week, so hopefully, that work will have some carry over for when I do some maximal work again.

Clean and Jerk 265 lbs (a bit of a press out)

I felt stronger than before once I had the weight overhead, but I pressed out slightly with my left arm when I jerked the weight. So a positive is that my shoulders are getting stronger and that I still was able to complete the lift. I just wouldn't have passed in competition.
