'Calling Yourself a National-Level Weightlifter When You’re Not'

I stumbled on this https://www.catalystathletics.com/ar...When-Youre-No/. Some interesting points here. He seems to slowly contradict himself half way through.

I saw that when it was published a little while back. First of all, the article was better than I anticipated, but generally, I do not enjoy Matt's writing. At all. I don't know who is trying to pass themselves off as on the same level as Kendrick Farris, but anyway...I don't really know what else to call someone who competed at a national event hosted by USAW, no matter how low the qualifying totals may have been. In fact if you go back ten or so years, the Nationals totals then weren't much higher than the AO series totals now.

I want to know where these facebook comments are. I feel like I'm missing so much juicy yet pointless drama. Personally, I don't know a single person who after competing at the AO series, claimed to be a "national level" lifter.

Pretty much everyone who went, and honestly I don't have a problem with that.

What a strange topic to devote an entire article to...what a strange parallel to draw with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. People that get angry about stuff like this may want to branch out and explore some non-weightlifting interests and activities. I picture one of those people in the workplace who have allowed the job to become their world and who are irrational about perceived slights toward said workplace and by extension themselves and their personal worth (admit this is a terrible run-on sentence but too tired to better articulate).
