Didn’t know this was happening so I looked it up. Found this:
“The IOC wants more than anything to get rid of the 94s. We cannot just remove that category and keep the others, as there would be a 20kg difference between one category and the next [85 and 105] and that is far too much.”

Crap man... 94 is my home. There’s been provincial records in that class for 20 years that I wanted to beat and now they’ll just be wiped?

In all fairness it makes sense though. 85’s are often really close to the 94’s. But 94 is far away from the 105’s. It’s always been kind of a weird class. Even locally the 85 records are higher than the 94. So there is that.

94s are just fat lazy 85s or drugged up 105s. I'm the former, possibly even a fat lazy 77..

10kg jump then 7kg jump then 12kg between weight classes doesn't make sense

My coach works for USAW and he said he's heard nothing much about weight classes, and that early July is when we'll know for sure.

I talked to someone who was at the commonwealth weightlifting federation electoral congress at the outset of the commonwealth games, and that's basically what I heard from them.

That's what the SHW classes are for.

I can't imagine that a heavier weight class than 105 wouldn't end up being the hot spot for failures. 120 would be a disaster.
