According to Sean Waxman (via facebook):

"Bullshit politics caused Alyssa a medal. An official from a country that had athletes disqualified from the Pan Ams Championships for not following drug testing protocols overturned a good lift by Alyssa. It seems this is in retaliation for the USA calling them out for trying to cheat at the Pan American Congress held yesterday.
    #stayclassy"

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but surely the lift would have been in question anyway, no? Majority decision is necessary to overturn a lift.

I couldn't find video of the 48A snatches, and the video lagged and cut out during her 2nd attempt clean and jerk, which based on the coaches' reaction backstage seems like it might be the lift in question. But without video, this is the same guy who was adamant Salimi's 3rd attempt clean and jerk at worlds last year was good (when one of the other commentators immediately called out the left elbow flicker) spouting a conspiracy theory. It's also my understanding that the jury decision has to be unanimous to overturn a lift.

Yeah, I saw the Waxman post and basically a bunch of ppl just commented "right on, Murica is the underdog in WL" etc though McCauley did say something like "Be classy."

No hardware for TeamUSA in the 48s but we probably got a bunch of points. Can't see a scoreboard on the feed at all. Hayley did 71/95 missing 68 and 73. Clarked like 97 or 98. Alyssa did 73/94 I think. I missed a few attempts by each of them but Ritchey crashed hard on her last 2 cleans and I don't think she attempted the jerks either as she didn't stand up 100. I think I missed her 3rd snatch as well and maybe 2nd as I'm not sure if 73 was her 2nd Sn or opener.
USA weightlifting insta says Rictchey went 3 for 3 in the snatch and hit 78kg to finish 4th on the lift

The sort of lift I've seen called both ways at international competitions but with the microscope Salimi has been under the past few years, I knew it was going to the jury as soon as the judges gave it white lights.
