lol at the disparity between Broady and Ilya in the 96 division.

So the start book is out now. Iryna Dekha threw in a massive 286kg entry total in 76kg class. The WR only sits at 278kg right now. Her best total internationally is only 260kg back from 2016 with her most recent total only 226kg at Worlds last year.

Lord have mercy that 96kg A session has some names in it.

The W87+ division makes me wonder if the Cold War never really ended...
It's a contest between:
1. Russia
2. China
3. China
4. North Korea
5. USA

There are no Egyptians on the start list. So something has definitely happened that is preventing them from competing.
EDIT - ITG has confirmed that the Federation has been suspended:

That really does have some impact. Ehab is quite a well loved lifter, and a genuine Gold chance at 81. That really opens things up for Lu or Li Dayin if this championship is to be the one where he ascends to the top of the throne.
Sara Ahmed on the women's side has been a consistent top lifter for the last few years and was transitioning to the 76kg class reasonably well. That too opens up a spot for someone else.
