Those sets felt pretty good. Haven't had to dig deep yet. Perhaps I could've used a little heavier "seed weight" for this Smolov cycle... meh, probably not a big deal.

Clean technique was dialed as hell from #7 on. That's when I remembered to finish straight and pull under straight. Saw a good video on Maxim Smirnov's IG that should serve as a nice reminder.

Rough day; had to summon the demons to make it to the gym with enough time to do anything meaningful. I'm fairly impressed with myself that I managed to get that done in 35 minutes. I'll be damned if I'm going to miss a squat session between now and Christmas.

Man I wish that'd be a sick name. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Lucien Joseph Lapierre, which I still like, but it doesn't have quite the ring that Luc Jean Luc does.

Sets 8,9, and 10 were challenging. Had to take a little while between reps (about 5 breaths).

Thrusters were pleasant, once my shoulder decided to play along. The shoulder was also the main motivator for BTN press, which went swimmingly.

I'm finding the high-rep sessions to be not so bad at all. This one wasn't even really that hard. Little bit of a struggle at the end of the last two sets, but nothing worth calling home about. This program is certainly whipping me into shape, though; this workout would've had me sobbing in the fetal position three weeks ago.

Had ten minutes to spare and my shoulder felt OK, so went for a quick 1RM on bench. Easiest PR for a while. The fact that I'm getting a bench PR every week tells me just how undeveloped by benching ability was/is, and how far I have left to go. Would be nice to get to 300 in the near future.

Long-ass day. Also rocking a decent sleep deficit at this point. Deadlines knocking on the door. Anyway, day went super long, so the only possibility for a workout was to drive 15 minutes into town and pay the ridiculous drop in fee at Gold's. Turned out to be a pretty solid workout, thankfully. Had 15 minutes to spare at the end so threw in one of the more neglected exercises of late, jerks. Went surprisingly well.

Also, bodybuilders are weird. Unsettling levels of narcissism and strange quasi-homoerotic infatuations with male musculature.

Mostly technique work. Continuing my experiment with a wider jerk grip. Might be something here. I have the feeling that I'll be able to squeeze at least another 5 kilos out of my jerk once I get used to it. Re-adjusting after the clean will take some practice.

Didn't leave enough time for the upper body stuff. Next time.

OK so I'd call that difficult. Mainly the 5th set. Just died on that one. Didn't think I'd make it to the end, but then I realized I probably just needed that banana I had in my bag. Pretty glad I brought it. Ended up getting to the gym 1 1/2 hours behind schedule b/c the gf got off early, so I was starting to get pretty hungry. 6th was OK, a little ugly on the last rep. 7th was good all the way through (focused more on loading the glutes/hams and staying bolt upright as much as possible). I actually think this was the perfect weight to use for this workout. Seems that everything is working out well so far. Pretty excited to see what I can get for a 1rm next week. A PR would be nice.
